I'm afraid the option to have your files online only is not available to Basic accounts at the moment, only users on Dropbox Plus, Family, Professional, or Business plans.

Dropbox StaffHi Simone E.1, could you check to see that you haven't enabled selective sync on those folders, since that would prevent them from appearing on your computer?

Hi Jay - thanks for responding. The issue was that when I reinstalled Dropbox on this paid account, it gave me an option which I didn't realize I had: To have files both online only AND HIDDEN). I keep a lot of files online only but I do need to see what's there from my desktop and they had been hidden in the reinstallation. Problem now solved!
