.Zip Folders Never Fully Download

Hello Dropbox Community,

I received over a dozen folders of hi-res photos sent to me via Dropbox. I cannot download the entire batch at once (zip file too big error message) and am trying to download each individually organized folder one at a time. To go through and download each photo within these folders would take days since there are literally thousands but downloading individual folders shouldn't have created the problem I'm having...

When I attempt to download the individual folders one by one, a .zip file is created and it takes about 10 minutes or so to download to my hard drive. As this happens a .zip.part file is created which begins to grow in size. When the download is complete I am left with the .zip.part file which is approx 2-5 GB and a sister .zip file that is Zero bytes. The process never finishes and that .zip file never evolves to become a true .zip file containing gigabytes of data and that .zip.part file continues to exist with multiple GBs and no way of opening it.

What is the final stumbling block here that is preventing the .zip files from being generated correctly? I have run this with the same result through various browsers and after deleting the sites cookies / cache in my browsers' settings. I've tried downloading via Ethernet cable hooking my laptop directly to my modem. No dice.  I'm using a 2019 Macbook Pro with MacOS Ventura 13.2.1

Thank you in advance,

Hey jjung, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please let us know how large those folders are approximately in size and file count?

Do these folders contain other folders perhaps?

Do you get the same results on other browsers with no plugins or extensions running as well?

Any additional information is more than welcome!

There are 17 main folders. Inside the folders are only files, no sub folders. Files are mostly photos in .arw format. The first two folders contain around 125 and 175 photos respectively. The .zip.part folders created after attempting to individually download these two initial folders to my hard drive amount to 5.67 and 5.77 GB respectively.

They do not download properly using Firefox, Chrome, or Safari browsers. No plugins are open or activated

Hey jjung, sorry to jump in here.

Can you please send us some screenshots of how you see these partial zip folders?

Also, how are you currently unzipping the folders? The inbuilt function? Can you try using a different service/app to unzip them?

Since you're on a Mac computer, you should be able to find one in the app store.
