Viewing spreadsheets on iOS. Can't zoom out.
With the recent update, I can’t zoom out making it difficult to view excel spreadsheets on iOS. Is there something I can do to zoom out and view easier?
- If you don't mind signing up for the TestFlight build, please give 334.1 (or later) a try. This version does not artificially zoom the spreadsheet previews at all. You can find instructions on installing the beta here: https://help.dropbox.com/account-settings/beta-program
This version is otherwise scheduled to be released with this change next week if you cannot try out the beta.

Hi Jtaffera, let's jump right into this!
Can you clarify the Dropbox version that you're using on your mobile, along with the OS version installed there?
When did you first notice this behavior, and does it happen to all files, or only Excel Spreadsheets?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Drop Box Version 332.2
iOS 16.5
This problem first came about yesterday. I use drop box to store excel spreadsheets used for viewing truck dispatch details. The Sheet is fairly large and it seems that the new update will not allow me to zoom out to see the whole page.
It seems to only be effecting excel spreadsheets.
Thank you!

Thanks for reporting this issue, I'll look into what adjustments we can make here.

Can you clarify which direction you're looking to zoom? I just want to make sure I'm understanding. Is your goal to be able to see everything smaller so more fits on the screen?
For context: in version 332 which recently came out, we've started showing Excel files (e.g. .xls) and certain text formats (e.g. .csv) differently, which is what you're seeing. Ideally this is better than how things were before (needing to tap 'Open' and view separately), but this might be an area that we did not understand the use case around.
- MvitaleNew member | Level 2Same issues here, this issue presents on IOS (apple devices) in the dropbox app as well as in the browser(s) on the phone. This just happened in the last day or so. We use dropbox in our business with alot of employees who need to view spreadsheet data for the work location etc. With the new view dropbox is completely worthless. We have been using dropbox for our business over 6 years.
In short. When users attempt to “open” a spreadsheet file to view it on the app or web on an apple device (unsure if this affects android) the spreadsheet is zoomed in very close and in a corner of the file. I cannot expand the zoom (zoom out) much at all and the zoom reverts back to zoomed in if you take your fingers off the screen. This issue is not when trying to edit the file using microsoft excel, it is only when viewing the document in dropbox. This does not seem to affect other file types at this time (pdfs, photos etc) - diosNew member | Level 2
I have the same issue.
I use the Dropbox app for quick preview of Excel documents.
This is no longer possible, due to the fixed viewport size and fixed zoom level.
What is the reasoning behind this change? Dropbox does not permit editing of Excel documents, only previews, and by not permitting previewing of the entire document, you might as well just drop the entire feature.
I'd revert to version 330 if it were possible.
