Unable to download or watch videos I have uploaded - Hoping they are not lost forever?!

I am not the most technical of people so I'm really hoping this will be an easy fix...

I have saved uploaded numerous videos to my dropbox account and have been able to view, play, share them in the past. Recently I tried to access these videos and it says ' files without extensions can not be previewed'. I have tried to access via my phone and via a laptop and I am having the same result.

Does anyone out here know how I can gain access, do I need to download something or are my videos damaged or lost?

Help would be very much appreciated, thankyou!

Hey @LyndsFilm, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

Did you rename these files at any point, and removed their extensions perhaps?

An extension is that .mp4, .mov etc. at the end of the file name, indicating the type of the file.

If you removed these, you won't be able to preview the files in Dropbox.

You can of course rename them, add the extension back and you should be able to preview them again without issues.

Let me know how it goes!
