I'm sure I'm the only one, but in case I'm not - is anyone else mortified that in order to view a document someone sent me that I had to get spammed from dropbox until I login and update my notifiation preferences?

Does *anyone* on the planet like to be notified forever just because they had to access a document? Anyone? Really though. Rude.

Hi @thisisnonsense, thanks for posting today.

Could you clarify what notification you're seeing? Is this on a shared link to a file or a folder?

Generally, it should be a single notification to login to add it to your account, if need be.

Any other info or screenshots (without any private information visible) would be helpful!

Hi! I didn't, and don't want an account. An employee shared a doc I needed to download. I had to create an account to get the document, and I get that - you need to know who had access.

But then I started getting emails promoting your product. I had to login to ask you not to spam me.

It seems Dropbox notifications can be excessive, especially if default settings aren’t adjusted. By default, Dropbox often sends alerts for every access, edit, or comment on shared documents, which can lead to notification overload if not managed. This issue may be worsened by active collaboration or glitches in the app that cause duplicate alerts. To avoid this, try updating your notification preferences in Dropbox settings to limit alerts to only critical actions. If the problem persists, reaching out to Dropbox Support could help address any underlying issues or log it as feedback for improvement.
