Remove Dropbox completely from my computer
Removing Dropbox from my computer is proving to be a nightmare. My computer Operating system is Windows 10.

Hi ColinD, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It sounds like you enabled the automatic computer backup feature in the Dropbox desktop application. Could you first try disabling the computer backup from Dropbox using the steps in the above article to see if this helps?
Afterwards, you'll get the option to move the folders and files back to their previous locations, which will also delete them from the Dropbox account online.
Keep me updated with any progress!

Thank you for replying.
To turn off computer backup:
I have got as far as the Backup Tab but I can't see any option for "Manage Backups" so that's where I am at. see screen shot.

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM TOO, tried following the directions on your link, In "backups" section of the preferences on my desktop app there is no "manage folders option".
this is insane, I've been battling this a long time
- Walter3 years agoDropbox StaffHey Thomas Kalasz - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you send us a screenshot of what's shown in your backups tab in the app's preferences so that we can have a visual too?- Carlotta1233 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I am also trying to remove Dropbox completely from my machine, get rid of the duplicate C:\Users\[user]\Dropbox\ path and revert back to the default Documents path.
I have uninstalled the Dropbox desktop and if I reinstall the desktop to remove the syncing it seems that it would result in yet another "dropbox" path being created.
Can someone from support please contact me to explain how to fix this?

HOW does one "...first try disabling the computer backup from Dropbox." I have yet to find this information here or elsewhere. When I uninstall Dropbox, it automatically removes my Downloads folder! Not good at all!
Thank you.

I, like hundreds of other people, am experiencing the SAME SITUATION with the Windows "Can't redirect into reparse point, please choose different target path" error. This is DISGRACEFUL on Dropbox's part that the don't have a solution to fix this and are obviously trying to IGNORE it. I am so sorry I waster my money on such a lousy company.
If any of you have had this condition fixed, please let the rest of us know how you did it.
Thank you very much,
