Notification when copying files to my external drive

Dear Community,

I'm in a group and share a few files with my team but I'm not the admin.

I would like to copy some files from Dropbox desktop to my exernal drive. Do the admin get notified when I do that? Is the operation saved somewhere in the records?

    If you just copy and paste them then no they wont be informed.

    Hi ryanrud, thanks for posting on the Community!

    If you have files synced to your computer, and are visible in your Dropbox folder, then copying those files to another drive wouldn't be detected by Dropbox.

    This means that the team admin wouldn't be aware of the download either.

      @jay if the files haven’t been synced, And I want to change them from online only to offline , the business admin would be notified??
      Plz answer me at your earliest possible time appreciate

        Hey Ash9352, and sorry for jumping in. 

         

        Has your team admin implemented any team settings regarding syncing (to have the folders of the team members synced as online-only)?

        Hey Ash9352, can you clarify if you're using personal accounts or if you were referring to a team account with team members and team admin(s)?

         

        Just note that changing the sync status wouldn't notify the admin anyhow though.

    I want to copy some files from shared dropbox to my external driver without notifying the business admin?
    Is there any solution?
    If I synced the file first, from online only to offline, would admin be notified?

      Can you please clarify if you're a member of a Dropbox Business team? Or are you and the rest of your team sharing files through individual accounts?

       

      If it's a Dropbox Business team account, is it a Standard or an Advanced plan?
