Files opening very slowly in Dropbox folder

Files opening very slowly in Dropbox folder

Hello Team,

My DP files open very slowly. I looked up online and uninstalled and re-installed the app, but the problem still exists. The next step was to contact the support team where I didn't find my problem in the categories there. Please help me.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,

MedAmor

Thanks for joining our Community, @MedAmor.

Are you referring to opening files through the Dropbox mobile app or the Dropbox folder on your computer?

Depending on the device you're using, can you also let us know your OS and version and the version of the Dropbox app?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hi Hannah,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am using DP on my laptop with windows 11. I just installed the app from the link your colleague had provided before (https://www.dropbox.com/downloading). I think it should be the latest version.

Thanks for clarifying, @MedAmor!

If you close the Dropbox app completely, does the issue persist?

I don't understand what you mean by closing the app completely. As I mentioned before, I have uninstalled the app twice, and re-installed it once as an administrator, and the other time just installed it; it didn't work! So even when the app is freshly installed on the laptop, it is very slow.

What I meant is that I'd like you to close the Dropbox app and see if the issue persists with the app closed.

If the issue persists with the app closed, it means that Dropbox is not really causing the issue.

The slow opening of the files happens only with drop box. All other applications work fast.

Hi @MedAmor, just for clarification, did you shut down the Dropbox desktop application completely, and then open a file from the Dropbox folder?

What happens if you move a file from the Dropbox folder to another outside folder and open it from there?

Hello @Jay

The files are copied fast from drop box into the other folder, and opened fast with or without drop box closed.

I'm still not sure this is caused by Dropbox, if I'm honest, @MedAmor, but let's continue looking into it.

How many files do you have in your Dropbox folder?

When did you start noticing this issue? Was it perhaps after some kind of Windows update?

And have you restarted your computer ever since this started happening?
