Re: Error Message When Accessing files in a Linked Business Account from File Explorer

Error Message When Accessing files in a Linked Business Account from File Explorer

KMAPRO
Explorer | Level 4

I have a personal account and a linked business account. I can see both in my File Explorer (which is how I typically access files).

Whenever I try to access any of the "older" files in my business account, I get an error message stating, "An unknown error occured while accessing...." (PDF editor) and a, "The file cannot be accessed by the system" (Solidworks).

Everything was working correctly before my computer crashed last week. Ended up reinstalling Windows and had to relink the accounts in my computer.

My personal account has a green check mark on it while my linked business account has a greyed out cloud. Is my linked account not connecting or what do I need to do in order to be able to access the files.

I can go into th linked account online and see everything - just can't do it through File Explorer nor my program's "open" function.

However, if I save something new to the linked account, I can access it...

This is annoying!!

Hi @KMAPRO, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you able to mark the Dropbox folder for the Business account as available offline by following these steps?

Does the sync icon change to a green icon afterwards?

This will help me to assist further!

Honestly, I thought that I would need to make it available offline - but I didn't have to do that before my computer crashed.

I have just right-clicked on the Dropbox Business icon and selected "make available offline". It is not currently showing a sync icon, but the instructions say it might take a minute. There is a LOT in this file, so it might take a few minutes. I will check back shortly and let you know.

and it is still syncing...

Hi @KMAPRO, can you clarify or send me a screenshot of the app's exact syncing status, in order for me to have visual please?

Does it change at all?
