Large Size Discrepancy between local disk, and folders there.

Large Size Discrepancy between local disk, and folders there.

Hi,

On local disk I am 1.3TB which is, I think, correct.  I am pretty confident about this as it is pretty simple.  I basically have two different 500GB folders and then one folder which is much smaller (like 50 or 100 GB).  All folders contain what they should and nothing else.  Yet Dropbox says I am using 1.9 TB which is a worry as it will stop syncing if I go over 2 TB.

I am not using the Backup feature AT ALL.  I have checked and there is nothing under that tab.

I previously was using more data (so really using 1.9TB).  I reorganised and deleted files... so it's like Dropbox has failed to realise this...  even thought it has been 3 months or more since I did that.

Any ideas?  Thanks.

Online only is maybe the issue.  Maybe combined with a copying problem of some kind (related to another program)...  I made some changes.  Let me see what results with those.

Hi there, @CVB2, let's jump right into this!

I'd like for us to check a couple of things.

The first being your plan page online, and what it reports and the second being your Dropbox folder locally, and the file size it contains.

Feel free to right click on it, and check its properties, in order for us to have a visual.

If you could send me a few screenshots, that'd be amazing.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hey @CVB2, thanks for the screenshot!

Is it possible that you're using either selective sync, or online-only for some of your folders/files locally?

I'm asking, because that'd affect the file size you see in your Dropbox folder there.
