How can I move files to a new sd drive?

How can I move files to a new sd drive?

I have a paid dropbox account which saves files from my laptop (c: drive dropbox folder). I need to free up room from this drive and have plenty of space on that machine in the 😧 drive (an sd drive). How to I transfer the files on the laptop to the sd d: drive and still have them backed up on dropbox?

Thanks

Hi @Richard W.53, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Just for clarification, do you want to move your entire Dropbox folder onto an external drive, or just some files from the computer instead?

Is this external drive an SD card, or something else?

This will help me to assist further!

It is an SD card on my Surface Pro 7 which is larger than the SP7 hard drive. The hard drive  ( is down to 15GB free and I think that is slowing down the whole machine. I need to clear up space and could move the whole Dropbox folder there, but could also move just some of the folders.

Thanks much.

Hey @richw1, I'm afraid that SD cards are not a supported location for the Dropbox folder.

Especially, dividing the files to two locations is not possible.

Have you checked our selective sync feature? This will help you free up some space on your hard drive, by removing entire folders from your Dropbox folder.

If you're on a paid plan, you can also make your files online-only, to keep them in your Dropbox folder, but replace them with placeholders with no physical space.

I hope this helps!
