Storage Space
Looking for help with managing the storage space in your Dropbox account? Talk to the Dropbox Community and get advice from members.
Before when all your Dropbox was on your HDD you'd use local utilities to tell you what you were storing and how much drive space it was taking up. Modern dropbox with selective sync, hidden folders, long term usage with other people/clients--I can't get a real breakdown of what is taking up space where.
Is there a tool or method through the app to see it all like Daisydisk or CleanMyMac or whatever else so one can selectively target removals based on size & age?
Hey @Ciordia9, thanks for posting your question today.
Even though such a feature doesn't exist, if you just want to know how much space your entire Dropbox account is taking up, you can do that through our website.
You'll need to go to the plan tab in your account settings, to see how much space you're using.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Hannah, I know I can see the totality of the space usage but we really need some way to see this in a more granular fashion. Between shared client, friends, family, and personal space utilization along with deep tree structures it'll take quite some time to investigate what could be a pretty easy du -s -d 2 from a terminal.
Something for future quality-of-life UI improvement.
The new version of DaisyDisk can show what files are taking up your Dropbox space quota by accessing it via the Dropbox network API, i.e. without necessarily syncing the cloud with your local computer, and it will also include the files that you explicitly exclude from syncing.
You can simply connect Dropbox account as a virtual disk to DaisyDisk and scan it as a regular local disk, build the visual map etc. For more detail see

P.S. I already posted this earlier today, but I can't see my previous post, so I'm reposting just in case.
Hah, that's pretty cool! I'll check that out. Thanks!
I was already a DaisyDisk user, but unaware of this feature. Very cool, trying this out now to reduce my DropBox footprint.
