I am uploading audio files to a shared Dropbox folder. Each team member and the owner (myself) all have Folder/Activity/Follow/ have "Files Added" "Files Deleted" and "As Activity Occurs" all checked off. All of us have in our Settings/Personal Account/Notifications/ all have "Activity in Shared Folders (weekly digest) "Viewer Activity on Tracked Files (daily digest) and "All new viewer activity (real time) checked off.
So I have been uploading a file and then I might modify that file, I might make an edit, but the file stays the same name and length. Or I might change the suffix of the file but keep it the same. Whenever I make changes like that everyone's Folder shows them that the file was changed but emails DO NOT get sent out. The only time anyone in the group gets an email is when a file is added or deleted. Now of course that makes since the only options in the shared folder notifications are about deleting and adding but a Dropbox support staff told me that any type of modification would trigger an email. If they had it on "immediate" then they normally receive an email in about 10 minutes. Sometimes less and sometimes more.
One of the people on the folder has a free account and one has a basic account and the exact same thing is happening with them both so it's a tiered plan issue. I just think that the email does not trigger with a modification. It really should. So if someone knows how to make this happen or if I'm doing something wrong I'd love to know what to fix or change. Or, if someone knows that emails do not trigger from just modifications I'd like to know that as well. Also, do I need something like Zapier to make what I want happen? thanks
Hi there @Goom - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.
What you described is actually expected when following a folder as simple edits on files won't trigger email notifications. Imagine for example a large team working on a shared folder simultaneously and the issues that could arise by the multiple notifications even for small edits as the ones you mentioned.
The Zapier automations you mentioned or some 3rd party app/integration might be able to help in that regard though so feel free to take a look and give it a go too if you like.

Ok. Honestly I feel like that should be an option that is available. That way you can choose to have it on or off. If DB can see uploads and downloads I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard to add a date and time modified notification. Many other services do it.
