My personal account was closed and merged with an employer's dropbox account and I can't get any support on how to undo this. I received no response from emailing support and had my ticket closed.

You need to ask your employer to do it for you. They, and only they, can remove you from the Team. You need to make sure they REMOVE you and not DELETE.
