124 TopicsSeparating Teams and Personal/Paid Accounts
I recently upgraded my personal/paid account to a Teams account to collaborate with some contract workers. After the upgrade, my personal files automatically fell under the umbrella of the overall Teams account. Which is weird - but fine. One of my collaborators, who also had a personal/paid account, joined the Team and now their account is now also under the umbrella of my Teams account. This is making them uncomfortable as they have their own business and personal files are within their Dropbox. If I were to be abducted by aliens and my Teams account go unpaid - how would they get their files or regain control of their content? They should not feel somehow stuck with me as I'm not their primary employer - I'm just trying to make it easy to collaborate on work. Should I recommend that they start a new Dropbox account under a different email to completely separate our files? What happens to their personal files (that are under my Teams umbrella) if I delete them from the Team? Is there a better solution for collaborating than having them be a Teams member? Should I delete them from the Team so they can reactivate their personal account and just share folders?Solved106Views0likes6CommentsMy personal account was accidentally merged into a Business Account
I have a personal Dropbox account for my work as a journalist. My business partner created a new Business Account and invited me to join only to access certain files. When I went to accept the system asked to "merge" the accounts and not understanding what that meant, I clicked yes. Then Dropbox notified me that my personal account was closed and they were refunding me my fee. How do I extricate myself from this? I do not want to own the Business Account or have that for my own Dropbox, I only need access to it. How do I restore my Personal account and revive the subscription? The person who created the new business account says it was a mistake, but doesn't know how to fix it and one can't "call" Dropbox, nor is there a way to change accounts. I joined a professional team and it gave them access to all my personal folders and files. I didn’t realise that joining a team would do this, I assumed my folders would still only be accessible by me. I deleted the folders but when I tried to permanently delete the files it said I do not have permission. I do not have permission to delete my own folders and files????? Apparently it needs to be admin which is a colleague who I do not want to access the information.27Views0likes1CommentI can't disband my team. The final "confirm" option is grayed out.
Hi! I want to transform my team account back into a personal account. When I enter the page to disband my team, I check both of the checkboxes but the confirm button stays greyed-out and unclickable. What do I do?31Views0likes1CommentI accidentally joined a Dropbox team and I can't leave it now or delete my account.
Hi, I was just invited to join a dropbox team. The invite was sent to the email address that I use for my personal info, etc. I thought nothing of it as I just thought we'd have a shared folder or something, but it turned out it pulled all my stored dropbox info into this team. As a result, I quickly tried to delete all my personal files. It's moved them all into the trash, but it's saying I don't have permission to permanently delete them. It's also not allowing me to delete my personal account or leave the team. What are my options here, all I want to do is delete all my old info - but I don't seem to have that option with whatever I try to do?81Views0likes5CommentsMy backup files are gone after my admin deleted my Dropbox account. How can I restore everything?
I have seen loads of people having these kinds of issues with Dropbox since 3 years ago. Unfortunately this issue remained unsolved by dropbox until today. What happened was I joined our company Dropbox team a few months ago. Now they are changing the subscription, and one of my colleagues wanted to remove me from the Team. In doing so, she deleted my account due to misunderstanding of the website wordings. On my computer, my downloads, desktop, documents files are gone. I tried restoring my files from Apple time machine but failed. It says the upper files path does not exist. Some traces deleting the folder somehow broke the path to the folders. I am in desperate need of recovering my account.59Views0likes8CommentsHow to extricate my folder from a Dropbox team?
HELP. I have had a Dropbox account for 15 years. Recently, a new client asked me to join their Dropbox as a member. Once I joined, my own personal files are now part of their account, in a separate folder. How to do move my files back to my own personal account? They are not linked... I seem to have somehow become a folder in their account. Can I create a new account with my same email and somehow move the entire folder to my new account? Or somehow reinstate my old personal account?16Views0likes3CommentsMy account was deleted after being removed from a Dropbox team
