Outbound Data Transfer cost?

Outbound Data Transfer cost?

Marco_N

Hi,

I could not find anything about this on the website so I'm asking it here. Does anyone know if Dropbox charges an Outbound Data Transfer cost?
If so, where could I find information on the pricing structure, specifically the cost per gigabyte (GB) for outbound data transfers?

Kindest regards,

Hey @Marco_N, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Monday.

When you say outbound data transfer, could you clarify to what you're referring to exactly?

Are you for instance talking about sharing files or folders with other people or were you talking about the Dropbox Transfer feature?

Let me know when you get the chance and we'll take it from there.

Hi Walter!

Thanks for the reply!

I was referring to having the files uploaded on Dropbox and have people download one or multiple of these files to be used for a web app?
Currently I'm using Amazon AWS S3 bucket to do this, where I pay for every GB that has been downloaded (Outbound data) but as demand increases the prices for having people download stuff from the server increases exponentially.

Which is why I seek other solutions 🙂

Thanks for the additional info, @Marco_N!

Since you’d like to have other users download your Dropbox files, you can either use Dropbox transfer, like Walter mentioned above, or create shared links for them instead.

Just keep in mind that there’s a specific limit for downloads per day, which is determined by the plan you’ve upgraded to. For more info, you can also check out this Help Center article.

Hope this helps.

On the help article you linked. It says "1Tb bandwidth and unlimited downloads per day" for essential plan.

Is it 1 TB per day or per month?

Hey @Utfkhccb! The bandwidth you mention should be 1TB per day.
