Hello!
What will happen to the files in the storage if there are no funds on the card for payment?

Can these files be deleted by dropbox?

What are the limitations in this case?

No, it won't be deleted. If, however, you leave the account idle for more than a year, the account and everything in it would be deleted and unrecoverable.

Could you send a link to a document that indicates the possibility of deleting a large amount of data in the absence of payment?

There is no such document because Dropbox doesn't delete your files for lack of payment. As mentioned above, your entire account can be deleted if it remains idle, which is outlined in the Terms.

Although Dropbox say they have never done this the T&C's do state that they can do so.

The other limitation is that syncing stops (so no updates are made to files you change on any devices via syncing to other devices) and you lose your 180 day recovery history for files.

Hi @dianaellington419, thanks for messaging the Community!

If the subscription is cancelled, for whatever reason (including non-payment), then all this will do is downgrade your account to a Basic plan.

Assuming your account is overquota at that point, your files will stop syncing until you free up more quota, or upgrade your account again. No files will be deleted by Dropbox.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
