My subscription ends effective the end of November. I was billed for the next year though?

Typically speaking, if the charge has already gone through then a refund usually wouldn't be available. Subscription fees for Dropbox accounts are non-refundable.
Expand the Billing History section on your Billing page. Take a screenshot of the last two years and post it here, being sure to mask all private information first. It would look like this:

Refunds are not usually offered. You need to have downgraded and cancelled before the renewal to avoid paying - as per all of the emails you get telling you payment is due.
