I see, thanks for the additional information BetsyR
Since you'd like to use Chrome to do this, i'd suggest making sure that you're running the latest version and that you're not using any browser extensions that might be interfering.
If your browser is up to date and the issue persists, please let us know here and we'll reach out via email to investigate further.

No need, I’ve reset the account and started again. Looking through the community, it looks as though this issue has been around for a while and not been solved. I don’t have that many passwords saved, so it’s not a big issue. But a couple of things could’ve helped:
- users should be asked to create the password recovery file after creating the account. You have to go and find the option. I’ve done it now.
- there should be an easy way to SAVE the password recovery words, not just print it out. Who saves paper these days?

So brand new install of windows, I only had the extension on this machine, so with a drive format, and then reinstall of windows and then firefox, my addon as of now is just the dropbox password manager as it contains all of my logins for my job... but it wants me to click a notification on "firefox windows" zero notifications come up, this is a new install... nothing is blocked or tweaked. so what gives? also the backup passwords I have from the dropbox site it's self are not even valid it tells me. so now the problem is, how to resolve this... as this is mission critical.

Hi Andrew B.58, the notification that the prompt mentions would've been on the older Firefox browser, which is on the now-formatted Windows, so it would be impossible to get that notification now. It won't pop-up on the existing Firefox browser, since it is unknown to the Dropbox Passwords extension.
This means that the only option remaining, as you mentioned you have no other devices connected to your Dropbox Passwords account, would be to enter the recovery words. What is the exact error you got when entering the words?
