Dropbox online - number of subfolders and files in a folder, like file explorer shows

Dropbox online - number of subfolders and files in a folder, like file explorer shows

Hi,

I've been using Dropbox for quite awhile but am new to the Community discussions.

I've searched the Community for an answer to my question, but have not found one that answers the full issue.  I'd like to have information in my online Dropbox that shows for any folder (1) the count of the number of subfolders under it and (2) the total number of files under that main folder including all files in the subfolders.  This is the same information given by File Explorer for folders on the computer.

It would help considerably as I'm uploading a lot of data to Dropbox, and I want to compare to make certain everything gets uploaded.

If this is not available currently, is there a feature request for it?

Thank you so much.

Unfortunately most people never give feedback so getting support is difficult. How about Dropbox be proactive and provide this feature to help out many people and perhaps to use this feature to sell more of your product?

Thanks to Dropboxers for moving my post for more visibility.

Thanks to those who have voted up.

Thanks, MP72 for your vote and comment.  I'm keeping a positive outlook.

Hope you all are staying safe!

Yes, this is sorely needed. It should show the amount of files in a folder.

Also, we should be able to choose to have more than 3 columns displayed if we want. For example, I would want Name, Size, # of files, and date last modified.

Lastly, it should carry over into integrations. I have found that the size is not carrying over into our Salesforce.com for folders.

This doesn't seem that hard, quite being obtuse Dropbox and let people customize their file organization experience per their preferences, not what you think people want...

Thanks, rebelPhil for supporting this request!

I agree. Also making it a little more straightforward to find the size of a folder would be great too. I had to use google and go through all kinds of IT gymnastics to figure that out

Thanks, Monika!  I'm hoping this request will get enough votes to move up in priority.  I appreciate your support.

Very much needed for me - I NEED to be able to get a file count of a folder and all of it's subfolders.  I am keeping my data only on your servers, not on my local machine. After uploading a folder with a complicated structure, I want to check that the uploaded folder contains the exact same number of files as the copy I uploaded before I manually delete the local folder.

A verify function would do, if I could run verify of the folder in DropBox, then get a report of exact number of files, and exact data size, that would be very helpful as well.

John Finney, thanks for your support of my reqest.  I think there are many people who need this feature.  Hopefully it will be moved up in priority.
