How to get more Dropbox storage space for free
Hello everyone!
I wanted to show you exactly what happens and what steps you'll need to follow in order to get more free space in your Dropbox.
From your Account Settings page you see all your current space and all the space you've earned.
To begin earning more free space, you can visit the Dropbox Get more space page here.
From this page you can invite your friends to join Dropbox by emailing them, sending them a direct link to join or sharing your invitation on Facebook. You can earn up to 16 GB !
------------------
Finally, can check the space you've earned by going to this page and you'll have a detailed list of all the actions you've taken and how much free space you've earned!
If you have any trouble with this process or feedback and ideas about this, feel free to leave your comments below and I'll get back to you or reach us on @DropboxSupport on Twitter and our team will be happy to note your feedback and assist you!
Have a great day all!
The only time referral space is removed from an account is when it has been determined that a referral had been earned through illegitimate means. When that happens, all referral space is usually removed.
The only way to know the actual cause is to contact Support.

Not knowing the limit of 15 only for referrals I invited many whom I actually didnot want and in the process it attained the limit and the referrals never matured. Thus I missed the real people whom I could have invited. How to cancell the non responsive referrals to free the limit.
- MarkSuper User II
You cant cancel referrals that have been sent out.
Note that they will simply sit on your account until the maximum limit for referrals has been reached. That limit is 32 (32 referrals at 500mb each).
It doesnt matter if they are the first 10 you sent or the last 10. You will get referral space once they install on a unique computer. Mobile devices do not count.
Also, please note that if people complain you've spammed them you risk losing ALL referral space so please be cautious of how many you send out and to whom.

I had about 18gb of space, much of it earned through referrals. It has all now disappeared and I have only 3.75gb. Whats happened?
Kind regards

- valkornNew member | Level 2Hello.
My friend gave me link, i used it, registered new account, install app and when i tried to confirm my mail i got 500 error. And there is a problem because i still have 2GB and i see that i got 0 bytes, but also me and my friend when we check there referral status is green OK sign with text granted 500MB which means that this referral was succesfull.
Also i have email from Dropbox "thank you, your friend invited you, we gave you 500MB".
Please explain me - do i have +500MB or not?- SanchezDropbox StaffHi there,I’m sorry to hear about this. We’ll need to take a look at your account to get this squared away. Please write in to us here https://www.dropbox.com/support so that our support staff can investigate and assist. Thanks!

Is there a way to earn more free space for my Dropbox Work account?
Please let me know, thanks.
- MarkSuper User IIThe only ways to gain free space are via www.dropbox.com/gs and www.dropbox.com/referral. I have to say though I'm not 100% sure if these include Business accounts.
- madx37Helpful | Level 6I have already taken all of these, both "gs" and all the possible "referrals" but this is only for the personal account not for the work one (that now it's free with an 2GB quota). I can't find anything like this for the work account.
- gordieiev_artemNew member | Level 2Hello, I like your service 🙂 But I would like to ask you next question: why you haven't tariff plan like the google drive? I don't need 1Tb disk , and it expensive to pay 10$ per mounth. I would be ready pay 40$ per year for 100Gb or 50 Gb. It will be grate if you make not only buissness tariff. Thank you 🙂
- lele0524Explorer | Level 4I don't want nor need to pay monthly BC 1 TG is enough for me, which is why Dropbox is a nice Forum due to the many options for each individual needs!!
- MarkSuper User IILots of threads with official replies around if you read them, but, basically they lose money on them as too many people downgrade from the higher paying tariffs.

I agree with him. More optional upgradings, please.

Hi,
Is there away to configure dropbox folders such that the content is no longer stored on my local drive but only in the dropbox cloud?
thanks,
Shainal
- ZedDropbox Staff
Hello Shainal,
You can selectively sync the content in your hard drive and then once you mark the folders you don;t want to sync back to the web, you can safely delete them from your PC.
Alternatively you can uninstall the Dropbox app and use the web upload feature to manually upload your files via the web.
Thanks!

How much Dropbox space am I using?
You can see that information on your Account page.

If my account was available I would not need this support help. Please do not reply as this is wasting your time.
- bbarkanovNew member | Level 2Hello, Two friends that I referred have installed dropbox and started using it. But it still says " Waiting for Install" in Space earned. How do I get credit for the referral? Thank you!
- RichSuper User IIHave they installed it on a computer? Mobile devices (phones/tablets, etc.) do not count.
If they did install it on a Windows computer, make sure they download and install the full Dropbox client and not the app that's found in the Microsoft Store. That app is a mobile client and will not qualify for the referral. - ZedDropbox Staff
Hey bbarkanov, exactly as Rich said, please have the invited users to install the Dropbox app.
If the space is not credited after this, please raise a ticket with our support team so they can investigate more on this.
Once you do, please let me know here with the ticket ID so that I can help.
Thank you!

my dropbox standard is about 8GB thanks to referrals, i'd like to share a big folder (about 3GB) with some friends who have a new standard account (2GB). can i do that? i mean do they need to have 3GB free space or the space limit that counts is only the space available to the creator of the folder?
same question put in other words, if i upgrade to dropbox plus and gain 1TB, then can i share a giant folder with friends who have a standard account?
