My account has been canceled without my consent!

Hello,

I am a freelancer and have a Dropbox account. Today, a new client added me to their Dropbox so that I can work on the project as part of the team. Now Dropbox has simply canceled my account, refunded my money and all my data is now in my client's Dropbox!!!! I want to reverse this and don't know how. When I go to “add a personal account”, it doesn't work because I no longer have a Dropbox. Above all, what about my files? These are my files, they have to stay with me, right?

Thanks

Klaudia

Dropbox didn't cancel your account. You were invited to and joined a Business team account. In doing so you merged your account into the team account, effectively making them the owner of the account, and using one of their licenses.

If that wasn't your intent, in the future you should ask to be invited to a shared folder instead.

I want to reverse this and don't know how.

You need to contact the team admin of the Business account and ask them to convert your account back to an individual account. It's very important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so will delete your account. If that were to happen, the team admin only has seven days to restore your account, at which point they would need to convert it.

After your account has been converted back to an individual account, you can resubscribe to the plan that you were on before.

When your account is converted you'll still have your files, just as you did before. Note that as long as you're a member of the team, and because the team now owns your account, the team admin has the ability to sign in as you and view your files, if they wish.

Ok, thank you so much. We will try that.

I must admit, I was a bit shocked, that my account was deleted without being ask if I agree to it at first. Funfact, the refund came before I clicked on "agree" to the invitation...
