Missing temp file ?
Please can someone help? I spent 2 hrs working on an excel spreadsheet in DROPBOX not on my hard drive as I needed to share for joint working. Auto save sadly not switched on on EXCEL. Went to save and got message saying due to an issue with Accessiblity it couldn;t save so was saving it as a temporary file - I didn't photograph the temporary file name as I thought it would be easily accessible - where the heck is that temporary file? I don't know if it is saved in DROPBOX (presumably as I wasn't working on the hard drive version) I have lost two hours of really valuable work

Hi there Phoenix-66, sorry to hear about your missing file.
Were you working on this file on the website through the Microsoft Office integration - did I get this right?
Have you tried looking at the file's version history to see if you can find any previous versions there?
Keep us posted!

I didn;t have auto save on as it auto saves to one drive and I don;t use one drive
There were no old versions
I was working with the excel file in dropbox not on the hard drive so I could share with someone else so we could both work on it
It said there was an accesibility issue so it saved a temporary file - i didn't photograph the name of the temporary file and I don;t know where to find it
I have looked on dropbox and on hard drive
There was a version that i think was the right one timing wise but it wont' open (that is on the hard drive) as it says
because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

Do you maybe see any actions logged in the events page on this specific file perhaps Phoenix-66 ?
If not, I'm afraid that your changes didn't make it to our servers, so we wouldn't be able to restore the file from our end.
In that case, you could try reaching out to Microsoft for further assistance directly.
