Delete, edit, and organize
Solve issues with deleting, editing, and organizing files and folders in your Dropbox account with support from the Dropbox Community.
I "mainly" use Dropbox on my Linux [Fedora] workspace. I also have it on my phone (Android [Pixel]) and my Windows [11] laptop that I rarely use so those are my 3 devices. I would delete files from my Linux workspace but after a few minutes, they are back and I'm out of space. I delete about 6G of data (2 videos and 2 large data sets).
2/7/2023 I deleted Dropbox from Linux,
2/8/2023 the files are back.
Hi @thedbuser, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Are the files re-appearing on the Dropbox site as well?
According to the events page and version history of one of the files, are the files being added to the site from the Linux device or another device?
This will help me to assist further!

It says Desktop but I don't know if that is my Windows or Linux. I'm guessing Linux because the Windows machine is not on and hasn't been since yesterday at 2pm.
But here's what's even more weird.
Dropbox]$ du -h -d 1 --exclude=.dropbox.cache | sort -h
4.0K ./Dreams
4.0K ./Penelope
12K ./.ssh
16K ./Errors
16K ./My PC (DESKTOP-IJGOO2E)
100K ./Tickets
280K ./School
520K ./Business Cards
972K ./Movies
1.1M ./Medical
1.3M ./workspace
2.3M ./Data
2.3M ./Me

135M ./Apps
214M ./Photography
496M ./Phone
879M ./Programs
1011M ./Documents
6.9G ./Backup
11G .
One says I'm at 11G and the other says 9.73G. But I don't have the red flag or message that I'm over my limit.
Hi there @thedbuser, sorry to jump in here.
There must be a process or program on your computer that's bringing these files back and causing you to go out of quota.
Can you please hover your mouse over the 'Desktop' mark shown in your screenshot and see if you can recognize the device's name? You can see a list of your connected devices in your Security page (below the web sessions) if needed.

There was a backup job running that was getting the original file (which I thought was gone) and putting it back into the Dropbox directory. I will remove the original files and that should resolve my [user error] issue.
Thanks everyone for your assistance. I'd like to leave this open for a day to verify though.
Sure thing @thedbuser - just let us know of any updates!
