Deletion of random files and folders by Dropbox

Deletion of random files and folders by Dropbox

I realized by pure chance that Dropbox deletes files and folders at random and massively. I read in the forum that they have had this problem from time to time and that Dropbox support didn't help in any way and that it hasn't been resolved, I wanted to hear some other opinions because I'm very worried, thanks.

Thanks for posting on our forum, @Mikelone! Let’s have a look.

Please rest assured that Dropbox doesn’t randomly delete user files, due to security and privacy reasons. In order for a file/folder to be deleted, you need to take this action on your end, or something else needs to happen that will trigger the file deletion (for example, if your local Dropbox folder is saved on an external drive and it gets suddenly disconnected, then your files would get deleted as Dropbox can no longer locate/sync them).

You can also check this Community post for more info.

If you’ve seen that you’re missing files from your Dropbox account, you can go to your Events page to see what happened and restore them.

For anything else though, I’m right here.
