Cropping or color adjusting JPGs using Dropbox results in them turning upside down!

Cropping or color adjusting JPGs using Dropbox results in them turning upside down!

I took photos on my Android, uploaded them to Dropbox, and they all looked fine, correctly oriented.  I then decided to crop some of them and adjust the color on a few (some things are worth waiting for!).

Okay, but the problem is that once I crop and/or adjust the color, the photo turns itself upside down and cannot be corrected.

Did I try to use the rotate facility to flip it back? Yes. It, seemed to take but would not save and thereafter, insists on being upside down.

Did I try and refresh the screen? Yes.

Did I try both to overwrite and save a copy? Yes. Both options give the same bad result.

The photos are seemingly screwed up forever and cannot be fixed. This actually happened to me a couple years ago and I decided then that Dropbox was "no good" for editing. I was too busy to mess with it after one frustrating phone call to the help desk, as they could not figure it out.

Now, all this time has passed and I would like to use the editing features of Dropbox. And I see that the problem still remains for me.

Does anyone out there use the Dropbox editing features? Has anyone else had this problem??  If so, is it fixable???

And just now I uploaded (from my Android Samsung) a couple photos that I took this morning in my house and into the new folder I created this morning. Same thing. They were fine when I had them on the phone (one portrait and one landscape) and uploaded them. Once I edited them withing Dropbox they turned themselves upside down. Here is one of the two.

Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps?

Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running?

I have already tried both Firefox and Chrome. Same results. Do you want me to additionally try the incognito/private mode?

If you could give that a go, that'd be amazing @shirley s.2!

Provided that this doesn't make any difference, let me know.

The incognito mode did not help.

I'm assuming based on everything that you mentioned that this only happens with specific files, right @shirley s.2

You mentioned that this was apparent and happened again some years ago. When did this start happening again?

If I remove the jpgs to the C drive (give up on DropBox) then everything is fine. The photos are back to normal. I have quite an investment in DropBox and I would rather stay with it.

In that case, have you tried reaching out to our support team directly for further assistance with account and device specific information @shirley s.2

Yes, but no luck yet.

@shirley s.2, one last thing I’d like to clarify; did you upload those images to your Dropbox account manually via the mobile app or automatically via camera uploads?

Other than that, I could find your support ticket in our system and I can see you just had an update from our specialized team. I’ve also left them a note with our convo here.
