Being able to find version history for important Team Folders

It would be good to be able to check directly from the list of Team Folders in All Files to show history for the folders. You can show Activity for a folder, but cannot see the history for the folder itself – when was it deleted, restored, created and by which account and device.

If not there, then maybe even more importantly this information ought to be available in the Content tab in the Admin console (where you basically have no relevant info at all) AND in the Security tab, where you cannot search on the most important things such as when a Team folder was deleted and by whom – is that not related to security??

As it is now we have to contact support every time someone has deleted an important folder as we may or may not figure it out by looking at individual files that have been deleted – but why this detective work of having to wade through thousand and thousands of files to find basic information about the main folders??

    Hi eyeless
Thank you for sharing your feedback! I'm product manager here at Dropbox and I will share your feedback regarding the history of a team folder with our team.

One small note: If you want to restore a folder that a team member has deleted (e.g. in order to figure out if there have been important files deleted, you can do this in the admin console:

    1. Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
    2. Click Admin console.
    3. Click Content in the left sidebar.
    4. Click Show deleted files on the right side.
    5. Select the team folder you’d like to restore.
    6. Click Restore

Yes, I know how to restore and it was the second level support who suggested I leave feedback here. The problem is that it is not very easy to find out by whom and from what device a folder was deleted apart from checking several deleted files to see who deleted them and to what folder they belonged. In the Event log one could also find when a folder was deleted, but say the folder contains 20000 items, then you have to scroll slowly through it all as there is no way to search on the folder name (as the browser only caches like two pages of the log) and there is no name order or hierarchical order. Easiest would be if one could see the history of a deleted folder from the main Team Folder list when clicking on show deleted folders. (But it should also be available in Security, I think) We got it cleared up for ourselves, but only thanks to second level support.

Deleted files & folders are seen in the regular file list, but otherwise I am only talking about the Admin console and what admins could do to find what is going on. I have explained everything in detail and if you are not so acquainted with Dropbox I suggest you talk with Dropbox second level or higher support and they will clear things up for you.
