iPad Won’t Stop Copying Files to Dropbox

iPad Won’t Stop Copying Files to Dropbox

Downloaded 2 files to my iPad from the internet.

Then tried to copy them to Dropbox.

Did not seem to work at first glance. (Bad internet connection?) So I kept trying to do it, in frustration.

Days after, I found the files were successfully copied to Dropbox. Over and over. Almost every day, it seemed that new copies of the files kept getting uploaded, even after I deleted the original files from my iPad.

Anyone know what happened here? And, more importantly, how do I stop it?

Thank you in advance;

Hi @101001101! Let’s try something else, then.

What I’d like you to do is clear the Dropbox app’s cache, remove it from your device, restart your iPad, and install Dropbox again.

Are new copies being uploaded now, or do you just see a single copy of your files?

Hey @101001101, let's see what we can find about this together!

You mentioned that you initially tried to copy them to Dropbox, but that didn't work. What steps did you follow in order to copy them?

Are these files currently inside your camera roll? And if so, do you also have your camera uploads enabled

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Chose the Share option on the files, chose to upload/download/copy the files onto my Dropbox (the top level public section). I think it started working, but a bad internet connection stalled it out?

No, the files are not in my Camera Roll. They were in my Downloads section of my Files on the iPad. Camera uploads are turned off.

Hey @101001101, thanks for the speedy response!

Since the content has been removed, and since you're not using camera uploads this shouldn't be an issue.

The only thing that I can think of is that the bad internet connection might have somehow hindered or got in the way of the uploading phase, and the content was uploaded many times.

Did you remove the duplicates from your Dropbox account? And if so, do you still see them showing up every day?

Yes, removed them. Yes, still seeing more showing up. (Even removed more that showed up just now, in fact.)

Hi, I'm curious about the types of files you're trying to add to Dropbox and how you are adding them.

Did you add them through the Dropbox Files.app integration?

If that's the case, you might want to try the following steps:

Open the Dropbox iOS app -> open the Account tab -> open Settings -> select Native Files.app Integration -> choose 'Clear cache' to see if it resolves the issue

The files are both mp3.

Not really, I think. The iPad has a built-in Share function that integrates with Dropbox. Dropbox itself did not get directly used. That may be the source of the problem.

thanks either way…

I’ll try it, see if that helps.
