Why did my custom icon change?

Hi guys,

I use several computers all linked via DropBox Professional.

I like to allocate Custom Icons to my Excel workbooks. This helps me to distinguish between them easily when they are on my PathFinder Toolbar.

I noticed that when the workbooks are synchronised, the receiving machine often exhibits a removal of the Custom Icon bit, which means that the icon is reset to the default Excel icon...

May I ask that you do not modify the Custom Icon bit on the receiving document please?

Cheers.

Hi pbravard, thanks for messaging the Community.

A while ago, we implemented a fix in a new version of the Dropbox desktop application that ensures consistent folder icons and file/folder permissions for items in the Dropbox folder.

This means that you may see that custom folder and file icons are removed. Additionally, if you have files or folders in the Dropbox folder with custom permissions (such as custom POSIX permissions or BSD flags), these may be removed to ensure the file syncs to other devices without any issues.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
