Link access issues with Dropbox Essentials

Link access issues with Dropbox Essentials

Hi Dropbox community,
I'm currently on the free trial for Dropbox Essentials. I have shared links with colleagues so that they could upload files into folders but when they click on the shared link they are taken to their own personal Dropbox with limited space and aren't able to upload onto the shared folders.

Are there restrictions with the trial version of essentials?

No. That's an actual restriction of Dropbox. Each member of a shared folder has their own copy of the share in their account, so they need to have enough available space in their account for anything stored in the share.

If you just need someone to be able to upload directly to you, and they won't need access to the files after they've been uploaded, use a File Request instead.

Thank you Rich. Unfortunately they will need access to the files. Is the only way for them to be able to access the files by buying more storage for their personal accounts?

If they need edit access to the files after they upload them, yes, they would need to upgrade their accounts if they don't have enough space in their accounts.

If they only need to view the files they've uploaded, you could give them view-only access to the files with a Shared Link.
