Issue with Logic Pro files (.logicx)

Issue with Logic Pro files (.logicx)

I've been working with Dropbox for years. Has always worked well, until now.

Many of my Logic Pro project files (.logicx) are corrupted and they won't sync to my Mac. When I download them through Safari or Chrome, Logic won't open them. This is a problem for me because I work with these files.

What's strange is that some project files appear in the browser, with a folder icon, and others with a file icon. The ones with the file icon are the problem. They don't appear locally on my device. Luckily I have backups, but not of all the most recent versions.

The issue appeared since I joined a Dropbox Business Team. I left the team but the problem remains. I restarted my mac and Dropbox multiple times. Even reinstalled Dropbox. Removed folders and let them sync again... nothing works. Does anyone have advice?

Hi there @stevenmusic, thanks for posting on our Community and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Your issue kind of echoes this discussion. Could you have a look and let me know if that's the case indeed?

In the meantime, could you clarify your device's OS version, the version of the Dropbox desktop app installed there and the location of your Dropbox folder per the app's preferences under the sync tab?

Thanks!

Hi Walter, thank you for your reply. Yes the other discussion you refer to looks similar.

Here's a screenshot of a folder with two projects:

- One called "Elfie drums edit.logicx", behaving and syncing correctly;

- One 'corrupted' called "David (piano).logicx"

Both files have the .logicx extension, but as you can see, the 'corrupted' file shows a different icon in the browser and it doesn't show in the Finder. When I download the 'corrupted' file in the browser, Logic won't open it.

My OS is Ventura 13.6
My Dropbox is Located in my Home folder.
Dropbox version 185.4.6054

Thanks 🙏
FWIW, I did some more Google searches and it appears there are quite some more people having troubles with .logicx project files on Dropbox. One person mentioned it has to do with ‘plist’ file inside .logicx project files. That goes beyond my knowledge, but may be it helps. ✌️

Again, thank you for getting involved. I’m not sure if you’re able to offer any help, but I’m afraid the person who I am in contact with isn’t being very helpful.
I explained this clearly, but first he suggested that it’s my Dropbox plan (did he even read my question?) and now he suggests it’s my device… this unfortunately doesn’t get me any further (I already tried another device).

I understand where you're coming from, Steven.

I'm afraid that since you're in contact with our specialists, they are the ones who can assist you further with this, so I would suggest that you let them know about any issues or concerns you might have.

Apologies for any inconvenience this might cause.
