Dropbox cuts out the first 8 seconds of my video during uploading

The last 2 videos uploaded in Dropbox have cut out the first 8 seconds of the video. The videos are about 2 - 3 minutes and less than 100mb. Is there a solution to the problem?

Hi @Papa Bear, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

How did you originally upload the videos?

Was it via the mobile app, the site itself, or by moving files into the Dropbox folder on your computer?

This will help me to assist further!

I used the Dropbox folder on my computer.

Thanks, @Papa Bear.

When you preview them on dropbox.com, do you see the same?

Do you still have the originals? If you upload them from the website, what do you see?

Thanks Hannah.

Preview on Dropbox reveals the same issue. I removed the video, and then reloaded it on the website. The result was the same. The first part is missing. Appreciate any ideas on how solve the problem.

Thanks, if you uploaded via the desktop app, then it shouldn't lose any part of the video. Even if done via the site, the video should be complete, though rarely there can be some issues for much larger file sizes.

Could you confirm this by showing a screenshot of the original video runtime, and then the same for the uploaded video?

If the video is indeed being cut off, it's curious that it's at the 8 second mark. That's the same point in the video where the thumbnail for the video is pulled from.

FYI. I loaded the video on my YouTube channel and it did fine. Nice to know what Dropbox is doing.

Thanks for the info, when you get the chance, please attach the screenshots so we can investigate this in more detail.
