Hi,
I'm having an issue with my Dropbox folder and I'm going round in circles with various fixes with no luck.
I've opened a new account to use for my work. Installation is all fine. The Dropbox folder has been put inside macHD/users/name/ - not inside cloud storage as I've read elsewhere.
When I try and right-click on any files I place in there, I'm just getting a normal menu not the dropbox context menu, so I can't share and interact with the files in here. Essentially it looks like an ordinary folder, it doesn't even show syncing status.
I've added extensions, accessiblity, reinstalled, relaunched Finder and other fixes but with no luck. I'm beginning to wonder if the setup has changed and this is how it's meant to be. Are we meant to use this file to work from and then share files using the icon in the task bar at the top and can no longer do this from within finder?
I'm running the latest installation of Drobox and Sonoma 14.5 on a Macbook Pro M1.
I'd really appreciate any advice on this as I'm testing Dropbox as a collaboration tool and need it to work smoothly.
TIA, J
Hi Megan,
Yes, I did try rebooting etc. I think I may have solved this though. I think the issue was to do with the dropbox folder needing to be moved to the cloudstorage location rather than just username/dropbox. Does that make sense. Now that I've agreed to the new safe storage move request, the dropbox folder has moved to locations and seems to be exhibiting the correct context menu.
Thanks, Jo
Hey @jobee2, welcome to our Community!
Let's jump right into this!
It might sound trivial, but have you also tried re-starting your device?
Also, feel free to let me know the app's current syncing status, just to check if everything is up-to-date there.
Let me know more, thank you!
Megan
