Tips for starting 2021 off right as an admin

We’re facing a very different new year right now. There are more people working from home than ever before, and while some teams may be back in the office, now is the right time to get your teams used to a new way of working.

There have been a lot of changes over the last year, but a new calendar year is like a fresh notebook - full of potential. There’s a chance to make some serious improvements to how we work and a new year brings an opportunity for change

Here are some tips on how to make the most of the new start and keep your team working in a way that makes sense for you all.

Create a space for your team:

Dropbox Spaces is perfect for getting your team in one place with everything they need. With Spaces, teams have one easy-to-use place where they can collaborate on content, communicate with their team, and coordinate projects from start to finish. You can find out how to get started here

Forget forgotten passwords:

Forget post-its on the edge of a monitor, or weak passwords for the sake of ease. Dropbox Passwords lets you seamlessly sign in to websites and apps by storing your passwords securely. The Passwords app remembers your usernames and passwords on all your devices—so you don’t have to. Start 2021 by getting your team to switch to Dropbox Passwords and enjoy the peace of mind that everyone will have access to the tools that they need in a secure way.  Learn more about Passwords here
Note: This is available on certain Dropbox Business plans with early access to the feature. As the admin, you can see if this feature is available for your team in early access

Just because you’re the Admin, it doesn’t mean you have to do all of the administration

January is the perfect time to update or refresh some processes, and there are a few things that you as an admin can delegate to other team members. For example, you don’t have to be the only one who can add people to a team. New settings mean that you can delegate work and empower other members to invite the people they work with. Learn more here.

Make the most of the admin console

Form those good habits early and take advantage of the info you have access to in the admin console. You can set team-wide controls and permissions, find account information, and get support. Make sure you check out:
Gather key insights on your team's activities, access shortcuts to important admin actions, and quickly find members to manage their accounts. Learn more about the insights dashboard
Add or delete team members, monitor their activity and take quick actions (e.g., reset passwords or add another member as an admin).
Monitor your team’s workflow by viewing specific events or creating full reports. You can access more detailed information by clicking on a team member's name.

Those are just a few tips to get you and your team set up for a great 2021, and if you have any other tips and tricks you’d like to see, you can start a conversation with other admins in the Business Admin Lounge
