I think a new update was maybe pushed, and now if I click the dropbox icon in the taskbar I no longer see any settings, only a search bar and recent files, which is the two last things I would want to see if I right click the dropbox icon in my task bar.

This was the only way im aware of to pause sync or quit dropbox, which I need to be able to do on a regular basis since it uses my system resources and interferes with file saving /access operations on my system.

Try the legacy menu. CTRL-click the icon.
