Syncing takes forever (Windows). It's stuck for the past week.

Hi,

I am experiencing syncing issues with my Dropbox. After about a week, it still shows that it is syncing 8792 files (the number of files doesn’t change, and it is not on pause). I have tried the following measures without success:

  • Restarting the computer
  • Leaving it turned on for hours to let it sync
  • Unsyncing folders that I am not using (they can unsync within a few minutes successfully)

I have noticed that the issue is only with syncing, as I have successfully unsynced two large folders, and now it doesn’t show any progress in syncing back.

Below is a snip of my sync tab.

Thanks,

  • Hey,

It is fixed now! I did sign out and signed in again and it started syncing , now it is fixed.

    Thanks,

Hi there PG-E3, welcome to our Community!

At first, awesome work on the initial troubleshooting - definitely narrows down our investigation.

Could you also check if there's a third party app, like a security app, that could be hindering the syncing process? Could you try temporarily disabling your antivirus? Maybe that will do the trick.

Can you clarify the OS you're using on your desktop, along with the version of the Dropbox app that you use there? You can see that by hovering your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your system tray.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

      Sure,

I have turned off the Windows virus and threat protection which was the only security app on my device.

Hi PG-E3, thanks for the speedy response!

It might sound trivial, but have you tried signing out of the app, and then back into it?

If that doesn't work either, I'd recommend doing a quick uninstall, and re-install of the app.
