New MAC Dropbox Version - Thumbs down

Well, I hate this. I'm a terminal guy. I do 90% of my work in a terminal. One of the most useful terminal tools, aside from the VI editor, is grep. With grep (piped with awk and sed) I can find and format info from my all of my files very quickly. But, with the new Mac version of Dropbox, I'm dead in the water.

Is there any way to revert to the previous version?

  • MacOS 12.6. I don't know where you find the version of DropBox. It installed a few days ago.

It looks like you moved the files to the Library directory, which is a little problematic. I can go in and access the files in the ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox directory, but I don't like mucking with stuff in Library unless I have to. So, I'll probably create a symbolic link to that directory and do my work in there.

I liked DropBox just the way it was. I understand the desire for new and improved, but so much SW these days is serious overkill. There should be an option to keep a minimal function set if that's what users want and that's all that they need.

Hi there sdkeithk, thanks for your feedback on this.

Can you please let us know some additional information about the issue you're facing with the new version of the desktop app for Mac OS

If you could also, clarify your device's OS and the exact version of the desktop app installed there, I'd appreciate it.

    Keep us posted!
