Not sure if the two are related (Sonoma and the conflicted copies) but I opened my dropbox this morning (after installing Sonoma last night) and all my shared folders had been replaced with conflicted copies. The originals were nowhere to be found.
I went to the web version and my MacAir and it showed both copies (original and conflicted). When I tried to delete a conflicted copy, it would reappear.
On my Mac, I uninstalled the app and the folder on my hard drive. I then re-installed the app (several times) but it won't open (report below). It should be noted that I can now delete the conflicted copies on the web and Air, and they do not re-appear.
Strangely, I installed Sonoma on my Air and no issues at all.
Anyone having this issue? Any help would be appreciated. This is maddening. Thanks

yes, I doesn't restart the app
@bcortier, can you please attempt to restart your Dropbox app again, and let me know if the same error appears?

I have exactly the same sync problem right after installing Sonoma on a Mac book pro. Conflicting copies of all folders, no files left in the original folders, and after uninstalling the Dropbox app it is impossible to get it to run again, it always crashes on launch.
I tried pretty much everything, restarting the mac, trying on the web app to fix the sync, nothing worked since now.
Waiting here for a solution.
I precise that the group with which I shared the folders and files don't see the new "conflicting copies" of any folder, but they also lose the files in the original folders.
Thanks to anyone who can help to fix the issue.

Thanks for all this info, @jordangamet, and sorry to see you're having this issue.
I assume that closing and relaunching the Dropbox app doesn't help, right?
Can you please confirm the location of the Dropbox folder on this particular computer? Is it ~/Library/CloudStorage?

After Sanoma update on MacBook Air, every one of my shared folders created a conflicted copy, including folders shared with me. Unfortunately, some of the sub folders and files remained in the original folders/sub folders, and some of them were "moved" to the conflicted copy folder(s). The really bad news is the folder shared with me actually had some of it's content moved to my personal conflicted copy folder and is no longer part of the original folder. Thus, the organization that shared the folder with me no longer has access to the moved folders/files. I have thousands of files/folders that are either in the original location or the conflicted copy location, but neither location has everything. I don't want to manually move everything back from the conflicted copy to the original. How do I fix this??? PLEASE HELP!
Hi @davidjeastman, have you tried the previous steps earlier in this thread to resolve this issue?

@Jay - Yes, but no luck. What’s really strange is that about two thirds of my files were moved from the original folder to the conflicted copy folder. I decided to manually move everything back to the original folders then delete the “CC” folders. Hopefully, it was a one-time glitch with the Sonoma update and won’t happen again.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop on this @davidjeastman

@Walter - Seems like a lot of issues with DropBox and the latest Mac OS update. Is DropBox working a fix? Thank you.
