Dropbox App - Preferences Window has been updated AND IT'S SO SLOW.

The format/layout of the dropbox app Preferences window has apparently been updated and rolled out to users behind the scenes.  This update "looks" better, but the performance is absolutely terrible.  We have near 100TB of storage on Dropbox and are unable to function without the use of the SELECTIVE SYNC feature.  It used to be quick to go into preferences, sync, selective sync, then select the folders you wanted to see on your computer.  The steps are the same with this update, but each of these steps takes at least 5x as long to populate the preview panes after clicking a folder.  This is unacceptable Dropbox.  Every couple of months we're back here with support tickets trying to unbreak something.

Hi there @Contoured_TL - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this with us.

I've logged your feedback in our system and you can let us know if you have anything else to add.

While we're at it, does the behavior persist after reinstalling the app?

Keep us in the loop, please!

Reinstalling the app is not a solution for us.  With 100TB of data the process of reinstalling and indexing our library takes over a week.  We have tested this - not a solution.

Hey there, @Contoured_TL.

How about just restarting both the Dropbox application and the computer?

Also, which version of the app are you using?

You can hover over your Dropbox icon, to see this info.

The computer and app are started fresh each day.

Thanks, @Contoured_TL.

Can you also let me know the sync status and version of the app, when you hover over your Dropbox icon?

Hey @Contoured_TL, thanks for checking.

Can you let me know what your CPU usage is, when you access the Dropbox preferences?

Also, do you happen to have more than 300K files in your Dropbox folder at the moment?

CPU usage while accessing the preferences fluctuates between 5-10%.  I'm not sure the our total folder count, but at ~100TB its almost a certainty that we have over 300k.

Thanks, @Contoured_TL, however, keep in mind that unfortunately, the Dropbox app's performance will decline, if you have more than 300K files in your Dropbox folder.

I see from your original post that you're already using selective sync. If you further reduce the number of files in the Dropbox folder that way, does it help?
