Dropbox Android will not automatically upload camera pictures over NordVPN

Today I noticed that Dropbox Android will not automatically upload camera pictures over NordVPN. It claims that I am offline, when I actually have a fast, stable connection to the internet.  Is anyone else experiencing that?  Does anyone know how to fix it?  I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Hi @bcgirton, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

 

Currently, we're not experiencing any issues with connection to the Dropbox servers.

 

Could you try connecting to a different VPN server to see if this helps?

As of May 27th, 2023, Drop Box has not auto updated photo files since I activated the Nord VPN mopile app on my Samsung S22 at the beginning of the month.  Also indicated that I'm OFFLINE with WiFi when I am connected.

Hey @mockswede, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

 

Can you let us know your device's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?

 

Have you tried another wifi or doing it via cellular data perhaps?

This is SUCH a PIA.  NORD VPN mobile is NOT gonna get any recommendations.

Really?  I'm gonna do the work for trhe developers?

 

I need it to work on my WiFi and do NOT need to use up my cellphone DATA capped connection.

 

I'm NOT a 'roamer' or a 'world traveler'.

 

Just need this to work AUTOMATICALLY, within my HOME WiFi range, to save cellphone pictures to DropBox, when I'm INrange.

 

I should NOT have to 'remember' that this POS software needs to be DISABLED when I come home, so that my more important pictures are saved from any unexpected demise of this cellphone, which has NON-removeable internal memory.  Not any SIM or DRAM or SDRAM hard storage within it's CARCASS..

Yeah.  Followed all of those dropbox steps.

 

Only thing that works is turning of the mobile Nord VPN software on the phone.

Hi @mockswede, if the upload works without the VPN active, then it could indicate that NordVPN is blocking access to Dropbox servers.

 

However, I use NordVPN on my own Android device, and am not experiencing any issues with camera uploads. Have you tried changing the specific server used on the Nord app?
