Remove access to subfolders within a shared folder to save space.
If you don't need some files in your personal account, there should be a way to get rid of them without deleting them from everyone's accounts who is a part of it.

Please Please Please make it so we can join a parent folder, but not have to have all of the subfolders in that parent folder in our account. This would help simplify and save space in everyone's account!

This idea is going to need a bit more support before we share your suggestion with our team, so, we’ve updated the status to encourage more users to back you up.
If you have any other questions or thoughts for us, just give us another shout. Thanks!

I actually haven't seen this particular problem in a long time, but from the very start it was one of the worst features of Dropbox -- I'd share a bunch of files with colleagues , for example, and some would move things out or decide that it wasn't relevant for them and would DELETE the files for the whole team, without realizing it.
If this is still going on and the would-be deleter is getting NO notification of what they're about to do, that's terrible design, period.

There are many help requests that reference this exact issue. I'm surprised there are so few votes since quite a few have asked how to do this in the help community.

“Daphne” and “Lucil“ are clearly bots. It’s hardly believable if this issue is still unresolved in 2021. It’s also unthinkable that any actual human would call it an “idea” that “needs a bit more support.”
