Don't know why I can't vote up the comments, so I'll add another comment. I would love to see this feature come back. Yes, come back: when I started using Dropbox on iOS several years ago, I was able to view text-mode .org files just fine.
Seems to me like Dropbox should default to showing files as plain-text by default (as long as they are small enough). There's no harm in allowing it, it would allow other proprietary formats to be supported for free, and even for your random file type, viewing the raw source can still be instructive in many cases.
What good is it having a plain text file on Dropbox that the app won't let you see? Seems like a useless anti-feature to me.
So much so that I submitted a dropbox ticket to request this feature, ticket #9092622. Unfortunately the process of explaining what I wanted, and providing all the mountains of useless and even redundant supporting data that was requested (screenshots? really?), proved so painful that I simply, and in futile dejected misery, gave up.
