Remove "Log in or sign up" popup when downloading from a shared link.

This issue has been brought up by many people in discussion posts this year, but there has still been no solution, so I am creating an idea post here:

I share view-only download links with my clients almost every day, but when they click the "Download" button, a pop-up box now appears, prompting them to log in or sign up. There is an option at the bottom of the box that says "Or continue with download only," but it is in small text and easily overlooked. As a result, I’ve received many emails from clients asking why they need to sign in to download the files, something they never had to do before. To resolve this, I have to send them screenshots highlighting the option, which is time-consuming and unprofessional. I also end up with some clients creating Dropbox accounts because they think they have to, and then requesting access to join the folder.

Additionally, I had a client insist that this option was not available for them and went back and forth with them before I found out that they had their browser zoomed in slightly and the download button was blocked by Dropbox's cookie notice (see image below). I also brought up this cookie issue in my previous post (5 months ago). I have checked it recently and this cookie notice issue has been fixed, but not the popup sign in box. So it sounds like the team has heard our complaints...

I have been a loyal Dropbox user for many years, but this new addition to the download process is creating a poor experience for my clients and making me appear unprofessional. While I understand Dropbox might benefit from new sign-ups, this practice feels misleading and unethical. Your business users deserve better than this.

I really hope Dropbox can come to its senses and remove this pop-up box entirely.

Thanks for your post! This is really important. Please address this, dear people at Dropbox!

By the way, if it remains unresolved and you’re sharing a lot of videos and photos, Frame.io could be a great alternative with plenty of customization and shared Link options.
