With multilpe users on my dropbox account, I need a feature where I can select which folder mobile uploads are directed to. My wife and I both use our phones for work, and we take a lot of pictures. Dropbox currently mixes all the photos we both take into a combined folder. I would like to have a serparate folder for each of us.

I see this issue from 2 years back - is it possible to choose the folder that your camera automatically uploads to? I have 2 devices and I want the images to upload into my own folders - NOT the CAMERA UPLOADS folder???

Hey there craigvs - how are you today?
From what I understand you'd like to designate a folder for your automatic camera uploads for each of your devices.
The current way that the automatic camera uploads feature works is to upload all the photos from your connected devices into the default Camera Uploads folder.
This is because we treat your Dropbox account as one account where it makes sense that you would want all your photos to be in one location. There isn't a way currently to have each device upload into its own Dropbox folder using the automatic Camera Upload feature.
Since this is not an option at the moment, I am passing your comments along to our developers as a feature request - thank you for the feedback Craig.
In the meantime, you can manually upload photos and videos to any location with your Dropbox account and offline them as well if needed.
I hope this helps to some extent and let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. Thank you!

Thanks Walter. This would be a good feature to add as I've seen this question being asked quite a lot online.

I also vote for that. It would make my by a prof. account as I then can really use dropbox as I want to... My two devices with full automatical upload without any need of manual "interruption"..
Please bring that feature to the app.

I see this request in the support forum, but not on the request side.Changing the location of Camera upload folder03-08-2016 02:42 AM
While uploading the pictures to Dropbox by default is uploading to Camera upload folder. How can I change the default location as I have 2 Iphone and would like to synchronize the pictures to Dropbox by enabling the camera upload option. If the pictures are going to be uploaded default in camera upload folder how can I differentiate the pictures from both Iphone.
really appreciate if I can get some on this topic.

A feature for this already exists on Google Photos. The idea is to add a menu in the app that shows which folders with images and videos your cellphone will upload from. There is a toggle for every folder and it being ON means pictures in it will be synced into the Camera Uploads folder.
For example, maybe I want my saved pictures from Facebook not synced, my Boomerang videos synced, my Whatsapp pictures not synced. You get the idea how this would be useful.
Not all apps that save images to my phone save them to the camera roll folder, but also not all folders that have images are images I want synced and uploaded.

I doubt Dropbox will ever implement this. The thing to remember is that a Dropbox account is meant for a single individual and not meant to be shared. That being the case, according to Dropbox, multiple upload locations shouldn't be needed.

I'd like to see the ability to change the "Camera Upload Folder" name on a per device basis. If you have two phones, tablets or what have you, post sorting is a nightmare.

Hello,
I'm sure I am not the first person to request this / mention it, however, the majority of people with a paid Dropbox subscription (like myself) probably have mutiple users on their account (ie: Husband/Wife/Kids), and one thing we want to protect are our photos. The Camera Uploads feature is great...except when people do not coordinate their uploads. You end up having a LOT of photos that are from multiple devices, and there is no way to determine which photo came from which device unless you physically go through each picture file.
I am very big on digital organization, and I like to keep my photos separate from my wife's photos, and vice-versa. If there is a way to implement adding sub-folders inside of the main Camera Uploads folder so that way you can physically tell each device which sub-folder to upload into, it will make life WAY easier when it comes to re-organizing the photos onto the main HDD.
Thank you in advance,

This idea is going to need a bit more support.
We've updated the status to encourage more users to back you up!

Hello there.
I just find it surprising that I can not select the picture folders that I want to automatically sync with my dropbox.Could you guys please implent an option for the mobile apps to select the albums to be uploaded?
Nowadays we have so much digital trash (whastapp images, screenshots, etc...) and I dont want any of that to be automatically uploaded to my dropbox.

It would be super if Dropbox could upload your pictures from ALL folders in your phone's Gallery, for example WhatsApp pics, Downloads, Facebook pics, Family pics, etc, or give you the choice of folders to upload. Onedrive has this option, where you can choose exactly which folders you want Onedrive to upload, but I do not want to make use of 2 cloud services. Please look into this - I am sure there are other users who would love this feature as well!

The standard auto upload is great but if you bought the family share package you can’t actually auto upload to that folder, ( I can’t find a way anyway ).
It would be handy to have a choice of where your auto upload points to on the service. Not just the persons space (free) but a handy added measure to choose the space it goes into. - lugeoNew member | Level 2
Has there been any change to this? Changing the location for your default phones upload folder should be a basic preference.
