    Das könnte auch eine Lösung sein (provided by Mark):

    MOVE the folder that shouldnt be in the cloud out of Dropbox temporarily. Let that sync. Create a new folder in Dropbox with the exact same name (including capitalisation). Leave it empty. Let it sync to a green tick. Then use Selective Sync to remove that folder out of syncing. This will delete that empty folder locally. Let it sync again to green tick. THEN replace the original folder in to Dropbox (he may wish to copy/paste to double check all works OK). That should make the folder turn grey with a white circle and line through it icon appear on it meaning its not syncing.
    He should be able to then use it locally as he would any other file or folder without it syncing. The only thing to warn them about is to NOT change the Selective Sync settings without moving it back out of the Dropbox directory or he could risk deleting the data.
