Removing Dropbox from old computer
I recently bought a new computer. I set it up with my existing DB account. It synced all the files. Everything is fine. I now want to disconnect the old computer from DB.
1) If I delete the DB folder from the old computer, will it delete all my files from the cloud and from the new computer?
2) If I format the drive on the old computer, will it delete all my files from the cloud and from the new computer?
3) How can I keep all the files on the old computer, but not have them connected to my Dropbox account?
THANKS!
The answer to question 1 is ....Yes! The deletes are "synced".
Q2: reformating removes the dropbox client and so nothing happens.
So, first you "unlink the old computer" from the dropbox account then you can keep old files, reformat, whatever. Look at https://www.dropbox.com/account#security
and find under "devices" the old computer.

1) You can delete your old computer from your Dropbox account settings as mentioned above Rick or just uninstall from control panel. Nothing will be deleted from server.
2) No, nothing will be deleted.
3) Just copy your Dropbox folder to another location f. e. partition D on your hard drive.

Notice when you are doing a clean install of OS there is no internet connection and nothing will be happened with sync.

But (3) if you were to MOVE dropbox folder to, say, D: then dropbox would see a massive delete!
