My dropbox is empty, after joining Business team
My dropbox is empty!
I had a personal dropbox for a long time, and had it filled with my personal documents and work. I began working with a company who invited me to dropbox business, and i...

Hi jameshodgart, and thanks for posting here.
It sounds like the admin of the Business team deleted your Dropbox account, instead of converting it to a personal one again.
Is there any chance you created the new Dropbox account under a different email address than the original one? I’m asking because, if it's the same email, we may not be able to do much on our end either.
Let me know, and we can take it from there.

No I'm pretty sure it's the same one.
I wasn't confident on registering, but I thought it would allow me to use my account again - especially since you cannot post here without being signed in, and I didn't get any warning to say that if I re-registered my account it would any chance of recovery impossible.
At this point it now feels like I've not only lost all my data - but all the money I spent assuming it would be safe here.

Hey jameshodgart, if you made sure that you're looking at the correct account, could you have a look at your events page and let me know what you find?
This is the place where all uploads, edits, and deletions are normally logged so it should give you a hint.
Also, when was the last time you had signed into your account, prior to the incident you mentioned above with the sign out?
Can you check any email addresses you have, for any Dropbox-related emails there?
- Helen V7 months agoNew member | Level 2Was this case ever sorted? I seem to have exactly the same issue.
Today my Dropbox Desktop app was having trouble connecting and I decided to sign out and sign in again. Instead it quit the app entirely. Then, Instead taking me to my usual view and account (same email as posting this from) which was a personal account merged to business teams, I had a sign in / sign up page and after logging in with my old password, everything was empty. I thought its a temporary issue, but some hours later nothing has reappeared. I can see on the Desktop app recent files history but clicking on those, nothing happens. Ive been a Dropbox user since the very beginning, have taken many businesses to join drobox pro, have helped people merge and unmerge accounts, but never ever have something like this happened to me before. Looks like all my archive and personal files are gone withour any warning or even possibility to pay myself to regain them?- Megan7 months agoDropbox Staff
Hi Helen V, let's jump right into this!
Is it possible that you accidentally signed into the wrong account, or created a new one?
If you click on your little Dropbox icon, on your task bar, next to your WiFi, and then click on the globe icon that should re-direct you online.
When you check the account there, does it look empty? If I were you, I'd also check the account's events page. The Events page at www.dropbox.com/events gives you an overview of all activity in your account including files events (adds/edits/deletes).
Let me know more!
