Fake Dropbox account created under a real email address of our colleagues.

Hi!

We have recently encountered frequent SPAM emails, using the email address of one of our colleagues.

After implementing first-hand aspects of protection, emails from Dropbox are sent nonetheless to a broad list of people, without our consent.

Please come back as soon as possible, as we fear that this issue is beyond our skills to remedy, and we might need your help to identify and close a potential SPAM account on Dropbox.

Thank you !

Hey Ion Cebanu, welcome to our Community!

I'd really like to know more details about this.

You mentioned that the emails are using the address of one of your colleagues, right?

Then it was also mentioned that Dropbox sends these emails, so I'd like to know what type of emails we're talking about, and the Dropbox email address they are coming from.

If you have any screenshots, feel free to attach them here, just make sure none of your personal info is shown.

    Keep me posted!

Thank you very much for your reply !

These 2 screenshots are about 2 emails, that numerous emails/ users have received this morning (Eastern Europe time). These users contacted us either by phone or email, so there is no doubt that this kind of email was already sent and received.

The official version of the problem we have right now, is that the hacker got access to the email mentioned in the screenshot, and opened a Dropbox account (so it looks completely real).
We have secured the email recently, last Thursday, as the breech took place first time on Thrusday (changed the password, enforced the two factor authentifitation system, advanced virus scan of the computer etc.), but today, the emails that you can see in the screenshot were sent, regardless of our previous measures.

It seems that a dropbox account was created, to which we cannot get access now. Our kind request is to identify this account, and delete it for Spam reasons.

A similar request may have came from one of our colleagues, for this matter got spread fast, and these kind of emails were sent, as mentioned, to numerous accounts.

      Thank you !

I haven't received any questions by email, only the notification that I was tagged in the conversation.
Please inform if I can provide the email address for correspondence here as well.

      Thank you !

Hi Ion Cebanu, could you check your spam folder to see if the email went there instead of your inbox?
