connecting and disconnecting external drive for Dropbox Backup
Hi All, I intend to use Dropbox Backup to backup my external drive connected to my laptop. When I am on the road the external drive will not be connected to my laptop, at those moments, what will the Dropbox Desktop App act? Will it search (trying to sync) for the external drive in the background?
When back in office, do I need to close down the Dropbox App in order to connect my external drive and then re-open the Dropbox Desktop App again?
Thank you.
Hi yslf, thanks for messaging the Community!
The Dropbox desktop application would continue to sync files on your account as normal when the external drive isn't connected.
When you connect the drive, make sure the Dropbox app is on, as it would detect that drive was connected. The app would then sync any changes in the drive to the online backup.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
