Sorry to hear about this Darren86 - let's take a look now.
First off, have you rebooted your computer at all lately? Also, did you try another browser, clearing your cache or an incognito window to see if this a browser specific problem?
While we're at it, how large are the files you're trying to open and do they open locally on your computer when you download them?

I see now laolao - thanks for the screenshot. This shouldn't be happening since this file type is previewable normally within our mobile so let's have a further look now.
To begin with, can you please check if there's any pending updates for our mobile app AND your device's OS?
Another thing I'd like you to try is clearing the mobile app's cache and log out and in of your account again. To clear your cache, please follow the steps listed below:
1. Navigate to the “Personal” tab
2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
3. Select “Clear Cache” .Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.
Let me know how it goes and we'll take it from there!
PS: I was also wondering, how does this specific file preview on our website?

I have followed your guides. However I still encounter the same issue.. “Office Open XML Spreadsheet”.. unless I click on “Open With” Microsoft Excel, then I can see my file.
i have tried to save my file type as xls, it works! Why?
